Anyone been out lately? Catching anything? Possibly heading out this weekend to see if we can nail some fish.

Hey Fish Hunter, the weather has been to harsh for the most part. Ken was out at Beale last weekend for a couple of springs worth, but had a group that couldn't handle the conditions. I'll be out Friday hali fishing (hopefully) and Sunday on a charter.

I'll be on 6 if you are in the area. Fog Ducker will be about as well.

If work and such permits, will try to get out on Saturday. Looks like waves should be around 4 meters on the outside (would be nice to sneak out and pull up a hali or two), and wind, well we really won't know until we get there but they are calling right now for 30-40Knts on Sat. If it is blowing that hard we will stick to the sound area and see if we can scrape anything up. Hopefully friday works out for you Osama, and maybe the High pressure that's moving in will be here for your sunday charter.
Well hopefully we can get away from here (work) to get the boat wet. ;)

Osama, you make it out on Friday? If so, you have any success? We are shooting the canal Sunday morning, hoping that there is a window in the wind and waves in morning to sneak out for some Hali, then head back into the sound to search for some springs. Your charter still a go for Sunday?
Felix still out there? Don't know how many guys head out this time of year, odds are that if you guys are out and about, we will see you, we are in a 21 foot K&C - Grey over White. We will monitor the radio, and if we do see each other out there, will stop and say hi.
Cheers and tips up.

Well we shot the canal on Sunday, and blasted to the outside. Only went out about 6 mile. Just a wee bit lumpy out there, didn't see anyone else outside (no one else that crazy I guess), mind you they could have been 500 feet away and not seen them 50% of the time. Didn't catch anything, did have somthing huge on for a while, damned near ripped the rod right out of hands, all I could do to hang on at times, peeled a crap load of line, got most of it back and then the line went slack. Reeled in and bait gone, back down to the bottom, just got two rockies for our efforts. At around 1:00 it started to get real snotty out there so we came inside to fish for some salmon - nada nothing.
On our way in, thought that we saw you Osama across from Bamfield, and thought that we saw the "Little Ducker" Felix in front of Poett's Nook, tried to hail both of you on 06 but to no avail. If the seas had been a bit smoother would have pulled along side to say hi. How was fishing, did you get into anything out there?

Hey finally got good enough weather to do a report over here. Thanks FishHunter for yours!!

That was me last weekend, I got offshore, wind came up, ran back in, had just started to fish when you guys went by. I was commenting on who the other crazy bastards were when you went past us! LOL I'm usually on 6 at this time of year, just probably had it turned down.

Was out on the weekend, fished for halibut on morning tide, but arrived a bit late and only picked up one fish, @ 29lbs. Hauled up the anchor and headed in to look for fish at the surfline. They weren't where I thought they'd be, but as we trolled around the corner we found the school. Picked up a 27, 16 and 9 in about an hour.

Off to round the catch by adding some bottomfish to the box. Got a HUGE yelloweye - 19lbs!

We will be hosting a halibut derby at Mills Landing on May long weekend for anyone who want's to come out, fish and have a hella good time with the folks out here! Hope to see those I know and meet a few new fishermen as well. More details to come!!

Well we were out on Saturday again, at about 12-14 miles, and got blown back inside. It was just too snotty outside to stay out there. Saw lots of bait but hooked up no fish  . Came inside and only fished up some rockfish, no salmon. Tried out our new home-built trap puller, it worked great! Caught 61 prawns, two rock crabs, and two huge sun starfish (they filled the crab traps, it's amazing that they even got inside, the poor crabs were jambed into the corner). Beautiful day on the water. Anyone else out there catching anything lately?

Got out this morning for a quick troll at Pill Point, only 1 bite in a few hours. Heard chatter on the radio of fish being caught at the Whistle Buoy.

Let the prawn traps soak for 12 hrs and only got 20 prawns in 4 traps. They are getting hit pretty hard right now out there.

It can only get better from here. :) We will be back for the long weekend.
